Deborah McLellan is a seasoned public health professional whose career has included advocacy, research, policy, and management. After receiving her Masters degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, she worked in public affairs on women's health issues and was a legislative aide in the Maryland State legislature.

In 1988, Deborah started working for the American Public Health Association (APHA) as a policy analyst in health promotion. Much of her work during her eight years at APHA focused on tobacco control issues, especially in the areas of international tobacco trade, tobacco company stock divestments, and women's tobacco use.

Since 1996, Deborah has been working at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute as the Associate Director of the Center for Community Based Research. She oversees research and education projects focusing on cancer prevention in multi-ethnic working class populations.

She also serves as an expert in the development, growth, and maintenance of cancer prevention networks as well as building community collaborations around tobacco control issues. She is the Executive Director of the Organized Labor and Tobacco Control Network; the founder and past-President of the International Network of Women Against Tobacco, a consultant to the National Cancer Institute's Tobacco and Health Disparities Research Network, and a steering committee member for the Massachusetts Cancer Prevention Community Research Network,

Deborah has a passion for building collaborations between new partners and is a strong advocate for diverse populations. Her most notable publications include authoring chapters on women and smoking issues for the 2005 Edition of Our Bodies Our Selves, and the 2001 U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Women and Smoking.

She is currently a doctoral student concentrating in Behavioral Health at the Heller School for Social Policy at Brandeis University.
